Hope still comes
on its knees.

Intercessory Prayer Ministry International (IPMI) is a global, interdenominational prayer movement founded in New York City in 1996 by Newton Gabbidon. What began as a small gathering of fifteen to twenty Jamaican migrants praying in a Brooklyn home for revival in Jamaica has grown into an international ministry committed to mobilizing intercessors, uniting churches, equipping leaders, and stewarding prayer for the healing and transformation of nations.

IPMI emerged from a deep conviction that revival and transformation are birthed through united, persistent, Christ-centered prayer. Its founding burden was shaped by concern for spiritual renewal, national healing, and the crises facing communities and nations. Over time, that burden expanded from Jamaica to the nations, giving IPMI a global mandate to raise up intercessors who will “stand in the gap” for a world in need of spiritual awakening, peace, justice, and hope.

For nearly three decades, IPMI has served pastors, ministry leaders, churches, intercessors, and diaspora communities through prayer gatherings, leadership convenings, teaching initiatives, and strategic partnerships. Its major initiatives include the Annual Prayer Breakfast and 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, the Global Prayer Summit, Schools of Prayer, the Pastors and Leaders Prayer Symposium, Monthly Global Prayer Calls, and the R3 Young Adults Initiative. IPMI is also developing a future Prayer Institute to provide more structured training for intercessors and emerging prayer leaders.

IPMI’s ministry is rooted in biblical intercession: bearing others’ burdens, praying from one’s position in Christ, walking in holiness and humility, persisting until heaven responds, and seeking God’s purposes above human plans. These convictions have shaped IPMI’s commitment to prayer that is both spiritual and strategic, rooted in Scripture, scalable across cultures, and anchored in the present reign and glory of Christ.

Guided by the values of collaboration, excellence, and integrity, IPMI has built partnerships with churches, civic leaders, diaspora organizations, and global mission networks. These partnerships have expanded IPMI’s reach, mobilizing thousands from more than forty nations while preserving its prophetic and spiritual distinctiveness.

Today, IPMI continues to call believers back to the altar—uniting prayer with mission, leadership with humility, and intercession with action. Its message remains simple and urgent: hope still comes on its knees.

Our vision

To see lives impacted and nations transformed through united prayer and fasting for revival, world evangelization, and the spiritual healing of communities, cities, and nations.

Our mission

IPMI exists to equip and empower individuals, churches, and Christian organizations in the United States, Jamaica, and nations around the world to advance the Gospel and bring spiritual transformation to their communities.

We pursue this mission by developing, hosting, and promoting initiatives that foster united prayer and fasting for revival and world evangelization, and by providing:

  • Consultation, research, biblical teaching, and mentoring
  • Support, fellowship, and networking among Christian leaders and ministries
  • Opportunities for collaboration through IPMI-hosted events and programs
  • Strategic use of digital, print, and electronic media to expand prayer engagement

Our values

Collaboration, excellence, and integrity guide our work across churches, cultures, and nations.

Statement of faith

At Intercessory Prayer Ministry International, we affirm the historic Christian faith as revealed in the Scriptures.

  • We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God.
  • We believe in one God—eternal and self-existent—revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe Jesus Christ died for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and now reigns at the right hand of the Father.
  • We believe humanity was created in God’s image but fell into sin and is in need of redemption.
  • We believe salvation comes only by God’s grace through personal faith in Jesus Christ.
  • We believe the Holy Spirit glorifies Christ, convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and empowers believers for holy living and effective ministry.
  • We believe the Holy Spirit is actively at work in the Church today through His gifts, His fruit, and His anointed ministries.
  • We believe in the literal Second Coming of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead.
  • We believe in eternal blessedness for the believer and eternal separation from God for the unbeliever.
  • We believe Christ commands every believer to carry the Gospel into all the world.
  • We believe in both personal and corporate prayer and fasting as vital disciplines for spiritual growth, revival, and the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
