PSALM 91:4-11

He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday. Read more

Meditation

This Psalm offers security for God's children, i.e. those who commit themselves to the will and protection of the Almighty and daily seek to dwell in God's presence. The more fully we abide in Jesus and His word, making Him our life and our dwelling place, the fuller will be our peace and the greater our deliverance in times of danger.

The psalmist invites the Godly to trust in the Lord and find protection in Him. God protects the godly from deadly disease and even a destructive word. The godly should not be afraid because the Lord watches over them.   These promises do not guarantee an escape from trouble, but they create an expectation of the Lord's goodness. In verse 6, the reference to disease represents any kind of affliction.

The poet again invites the godly to seek refuge in the Lord and enjoy the benefits of divine protection. "He will order His angels." The devil spoke these words when he tried to tempt Jesus, but God makes this promise for those who obey Him, not for those who arrogantly test Him.

Life Application:

As you walk with God and Jesus daily, see what good happens in your life. The enemy has no place in your heart, and you are victorious.

Praise/Prayer:

"Dear Father, thank You for the way You watch over Your children...the way You hold us in Your hand. We are secure in You for You are The Most High shelter during the 'storm' we now face. The devil may try to interfere, but he cannot. We can go on with God, Jesus and the angels to Heaven. Hallelujah! Amen!"
