About JDOP

The Annual Jamaica Diaspora Day of Prayer and Fasting (JDOP) is a Christ-Centered, united, global prayer and fasting movement, conducted among Jamaicans living in the Diaspora, committed to the spiritual renewal and transformation of Jamaica.

JDOP was founded in March 2004 by New York Clergy-men, Rev. Dr. Samuel Vassel, Rev. Dr. H. Dennis Campbell, and Rev. Newton Gabbidon. Since then, IPMI has hosted this initiative in collaboration with members of the clergy, the Jamaica Overseas Missions, and other interest groups in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, around August 1, Jamaica Emancipation holiday.

The purpose of this prayer initiative is to facilitate united prayer among fellow Jamaicans residing in these regions, for a much needed spiritual revival to heal the nation of its many social ills, including an escalating murder rate.

Donations to JDOP go to support Jamaican charities working among at-risk teenagers, particularly in inner cities. Many Jamaicans and leaders in the Diaspora regard JDOP as an essential spiritual movement with the potential to positively impact the nations. The event has received endorsements from many of Jamaica’s leaders, including the Governor-General, the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition.
