Rev. Dr. Samuel VasselRev. Dr. Samuel VasselBROOKLYN, NY. Monday, June 11, 2018 – The Intercessory Prayer Ministry International (IPM), will use the occasion of its 22nd Annual Prayer Breakfast to recognize the sterling contribution of one of its key leaders, to the development and expansion of the organization.

Rev. Dr. Samuel Vassel, the senior pastor at the Bronx Bethany Church of the Nazarene, Bronx, will be presented with the Outstanding Clergy Leadership Award for his distinguished service, at the prayer breakfast event on Saturday, June 16, at 9.00 am, at the New York Hilton Hotel, JFK Airport Compound in Jamaica, Queens.

The award is another first in a career marked by milestones for one of the most recognized and respected members of the clergy in the Church of the Nazarene Ministry in the USA, Northeast region. Rev. Dr. Samuel Vassel was recently promoted to the post of District Superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene, Metro New York, one of the largest districts for the denomination, representing over 140 churches in the states of Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey.

Vassel was elected on May 11, on his first ballot and will succeed Art Alexander, who is retiring after serving in that post since 2004. He holds a Doctor of Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary, a Masters of Arts from Wheaton Graduate School, and a Bachelor of Science from UWI (Mona).

Reverend Newton Gabbidon, president of Brooklyn-based IPMI and a close associate of Rev. Dr. Samuel Vassel, says the citation at the upcoming prayer breakfast is significant on many fronts.

“It is significant to note that Rev. Dr. Vassel is the first person of Caribbean descent to hold this prestigious position in the Church of the Nazarene here in the North East.  As a member of the Advisory Board of IPMI for over 14 years, IPMI has benefitted significantly from the leadership of Dr. Vassel, whose presence, ministry, and wise counsel, continues to impact the development of the organization in some key areas.  This contribution to IPMI  includes the co-founding of the Jamaica Diaspora Day of Prayer and Fasting (JDOP), in 2004; the establishment of the Annual Pastors’ and Leaders’ Prayer Symposium in 2008; and his selfless support of the IPMI Schools of Prayer over the past ten years.”

Bishop Joseph Garlington, Covenant Church of PittsburghBishop Joseph Garlington, Covenant Church of Pittsburgh“For his significant contribution to the development of IPMI, the organization deems it an honor to use the occasion of its annual prayer breakfast to recognize and congratulate him on his recent elevation in the ministry. We are also publicly affirming our commitment to stand with him in prayer in his new role as District Superintendent,” noted a statement from IPMI.

Themed, ‘Impacting lives and transforming nations through prayer’, the event will provide attendees with an excellent opportunity to participate in a live experience of anointed workshop, listen to a dynamic message from the internationally acclaimed speaker, Bishop Joseph Garlington, as well as engaging in a powerful, corporate expression of prayer for the nations.

“We are living in perilous times. Nations around the world are facing some of their worst crises since the last world war and global persecution of Christians has reached unprecedented levels.  The need for God's divine intervention in world affairs could not be more urgent”, offered Rev. Gabbidon on the nature and scope of the event.

Tickets are $45 pp.
