Scripture
 JOHN 21:1-14

The resurrection is well verified historically. After His resurrection, Jesus remained on earth for forty days, appearing and talking to His closest disciples and his many other followers.
The disciples' plan to go fishing does not mean they were abandoning their commitment to Jesus and their calling to spread His message. They knew that Jesus was risen from the dead, but they did not know what to do next. They had not yet received the instruction to wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit came to empower them (Acts 1:4-5). At that point, fishing was a necessity because these men still had to provide for themselves and their family.

Jesus said, "Cast the net on the right side." [It is crucial to receive guidance from the Lord in all our work. If we live without Jesus' presence and direction, then much of what we do becomes the wasted effort of repeated failure]

The previous appearances of Jesus took place in the vicinity of Jerusalem. This one was in Galilee where the disciples had returned to their secular occupation as fishermen. The miraculous catch of fish and breakfast with their Master convinced them of who He was, and yet left them too awed to spoil with words the wonder of His presence and actions.

Life Application: How would you face a time when you would be face to face with Jesus now?  The disciples had a real problem; they watched Him die and heard of His resurrection.  They really had no choice but to go back to what they did before Jesus entered the picture.

Praise/Prayer: Dear Father, I don't know what it would be like to meet Jesus face to face. I have never met Him and long for the day that I will meet Him. But I continue to live in a world that is dominated by the devil's activity. I need Your anointing of the Holy Spirit so that I can resist the devil and stay focused on Kingdom activity; the harvest of the world. Amen!
