The President

Rev. Newton Gabbidon is the Founder and President of Intercessory Prayer Ministry International (IPMI), a 501 (c) (3) organization,  which was established in Brooklyn, New York, in 1996.  An organization that focuses on revival locally and internationally, IPMI is very active in the tri-state working to foster revival among churches through the hosting of several programs, including  the Annual Prayer Breakfast, Annual Schools of Prayer  and the Annual Pastors' and Leaders' Prayer Symposium that have positively impacted the spiritual life of a number of congregations in the region.

Newton is also a co-founder of the Annual Jamaica Diaspora Day of Prayer and Fasting (JDOP), a special prayer initiative that mobilizes members of the Christian community of various denominations from the Jamaican Diaspora in the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States for a day of prayer and fasting for revival in their homeland.  The event is hosted around the August 1 Jamaican Emancipation Day holiday, each year, and is facilitated by IPMI working in collaboration with members of the clergy and various Jamaica's Overseas Missions.  The event attracts participants each year from scores of churches across these Diaspora regions.  The funds generated through JDOP, each year, go to benefit Christian charities in Jamaica that serve at-risk teenagers primarily from the inner cities.

Prior to his role within IPMI, Newton served as President of the National Intercessory Prayer Network of Jamaica, (NIPNOJ) before migrating with his family to New York City from Kingston, Jamaica in 1992.  In his earlier years, he worked as a  teacher at different levels in the Jamaican school system and also as a life insurance sales representative for a leading Life Insurance Company, before answering the call to full-time ministry in 1989.

Newton is a graduate of Mico Teacher's College ( now The Mico University College in Kingston, Jamaica), the City University of New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance and Trinity Theological Seminary, where he earned the Masters of Arts degree in Theology.

Newton is also co-author of the book, Your Kingdom Come: The Reign of Christ's Kingdom in the Earth.

Newton and his wife, Norma, a Registered Nurse, who is employed to a Brooklyn hospital, are the proud parents of four children and nine grandchildren.

As President of IPMI, Newton, while seeking to facilitate the fulfillment of IPMI's various aims and objectives, will continue to work closely with other member's of IPMI's leadership and staff to foster the spirit of unity among pastors, churches and other Christian organizations locally and internationally.
