Jamaica Diaspora Day of Prayer

Jamaica Diaspora Day of Prayer

Since 2004, IPMI has hosted The  Annual Jamaica Diaspora Day of Prayer and Fasting Project (JDOP) around the August 1 Jamaica Emancipation holiday, in collaboration with members of the clergy, the Jamaica Overseas Missions and other interest groups in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.  The purpose of this important prayer initiative is to facilitate united prayer among fellow Jamaican Christians residing in these regions for a much needed spiritual revival to heal the nation of its many social ills, including an escalating murder rate.  All funds generated through this annual prayer initiative go to support charities on the island that do work among at-risk teenagers, particularly from the inner cities. An event highly regarded by some Jamaican Christians and leaders in the Diaspora as an important spiritual movement with the potential to positively impact the nation, JDOP has received endorsements from many of Jamaica’s leaders, including the Governor General, the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition.

On August 8, 2020, the 16th Annual JDOP was hosted as a virtual event due to the COVID 19 Pandemic.  The time of prayer for Jamaica and the Diaspora attracted a few thousand viewers from around the world.  .
