2010, year of  challenge and Opportunities –  A Message from Newton Gabbidon, IPMI’s President.

For a majority of Christians around the world, the Christmas season is a time of reflection on the greatest event of human history: the advent of Jesus’ birth in a lonely Bethlehem stable over 2000 years ago (John 3:13).  In fulfillment of the Scriptures, Jesus Christ, the Lord of Glory, willingly left His heavenly splendor and came to our fallen world for the one and only purpose of rescuing  men, women and children from their sins.  The story of the Gospel is the fulfillment of that purpose through Christ’s death on a cross, his resurrection from the grave and triumphant ascension to heaven, where he remains seated at the right hand of the Father, performing one of His most important tasks of reconciling the nations to the Father, through intercession.

Here at Intercessory Prayer Ministry International we are deeply grateful to the Lord for the opportunity He has offered us to share in this wonderful ministry of reconciliation.  This Christmas season as we pause here at IPMI to reflect on the miracle of the advent of Christ’s coming and of  its relevance to our troubled world, we are ever mindful of the support that we received during 2010 from partners like you and would like specially thank you.

2010 has so far proved to be a particularly busy year for us in a number of ways.  During the year the ministry expanded locally and internationally through programs like the Sixth Jamaican Diaspora Day of Prayer and Fasting for Renewal and Transformation in Jamaica, which IPMI hosted on Monday, August 2 in association with pastors of various denominations in the in USA, Canada and the United Kingdom.  In addition to mobilizing Jamaicans of all walks of life to annually unite in prayer and fasting for Jamaica around the time of the nation’s Independence, over the years the program helped to raise thousands of dollars for charities in Jamaica with a strong focus on reaching and mentoring the youth from the nation’s inner cities.  Here in the North East, IPMI partnered with a number of pastors and congregations to host the Fourteenth Annual International Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, June 19 and the Fourth Annual Pastors’ and Leaders’ Breakfast on Friday, October 15. These events brought together a number of leaders, including pastors and key leaders from the Caribbean Diaspora like Consul General of Haiti, Hon. Felix Augustine and Consul General of Jamaica, Hon. Geneive Brown Metzger.

IPMI also had the opportunity to partner with Micah Challenge International, which hosted a global day of prayer for the poor on October 10; more than 60 million Christians participated in this global initiative.  Our contribution to that huge effort was the hosting of a special global prayer teleconference on October 7, which was facilitated by a number of pastors and leaders from around the world, including our friend and partner, Esther Ilnisky, Founder/President of Esther Global Network and the Children’s Global Prayer Network; this exciting program continues to bring intercessors from around the world together for a one hour time of prayer for the nations on first Thursdays at 9:00 PM EST.  In September and October we hosted the School of Prayer for a number of churches in the Greater New York area.  Over the years this program has radically transformed the prayer life of a number of these congregations.

2010 also proved to be one of our most challenging years financially since our inception in 1996.  But through the faithful support of partners like you, we survived the year.  On behalf of our entire leadership team, I thank you for your prayers and for partnering with us financially.

May the Lord richly bless you and your family this Christmas, and may you encounter His peace, joy and full provision for your entire life throughout the New Year.
