Welcome From Rev. Newton Gabbidon, President & Host of Event

We are delighted that IPMI has received this wonderful  privilege of hosting popular speaker and author, Rev. Dr. Peter Scazzaro for this year’s Annual Pastors & Leaders Prayer Symposium, which is being hosted  under the theme “Emotionally Healthy Spirituality.” This spectacular event is expected to provide those pastors and ministry leaders  that will join us, a spiritually rewarding  experience. In responding to the need to host the Annual Pastors and Leaders Prayer Summit, we are cognizant of the fact that many local churches here in tri-state struggle with prayer and also face an enormous challenge bringing transformational impact to their communities.  We therefore consider the ministry of this veteran pastor during the 2011 Pastors and Leaders Symposium, very timely and hope that several pastors and leaders from the region will take the opportunity to join us for this event.   We are particularly pleased to be joined by those pastors  and organizations who have embraced the vision associated with the  Annual Pastors and Leaders prayer symposium, and who have collaborated with us to host the 2011 event.   On behalf of the IPMI board and this wonderful group of friends we welcome you to join us on October 14 for this great event.

About the 2011 Pastors and Leaders Prayer Symposium

Rev. Dr. Peter Scazzaro

This experiential event will implement the ground-breaking discipleship paradigm laid out in Emotionally Healthy Spirituality (Nelson, 2006) and in The Emotionally Healthy Church: Updated and Revised (2010), starting first with the life of the pastor/leader and then the wider church family.  We will explore how to create a church community where our work for Jesus flows out of our life with Jesus.

Pete will share his story over the last 24 years of pastoring (i.e. hard lessons learned) and the large challenges facing leaders in the church today. We will then consider the need for a biblical theology that integrates:

  • Emotional Health (emotional health and spiritual maturity are inseparable)
  • Contemplative Spirituality (slowing down to cultivate our relationship with Jesus).

We will look at our family of origins and consider its impact on our present relationships, our building of mature leaders and disciples, and our relationship with God. We will also consider three applications to help us nurture a growing spirituality in our own lives out of which we can lead our churches:

  • the Daily Office,
  • Sabbath-keeping,
  • and the “Rule of Life”

All participants are encouraged to read Emotionally Healthy Spirituality (Nelson, 2006) before arriving at the Symposium. Watch the testimony video on website (12 minutes).

The Vision Behind the Annual Pastors and Leaders Prayer Symposium

Intercessory Prayer Ministry International (IPMI) has responded to God’s mandate to them to be a vanguard of prayer.  In that regard, it provides a special element of support to the church.  It is an ally to the church providing vital reinforcement in prayer.  IMPI seeks to serve the Pastors in the Tri-State area and to signal to these Pastors its unswerving alliance in support of them as they seek to lead the church.  In keeping with this commitment, IPMI hosts a Pastor’s and leader’s prayer symposium in conjunction with its premier annual prayer conference.  At this prayer symposium, IPMI’s intention is to present pastors and leaders with an opportunity to dialogue with an experienced and competent church person about things that will facilitate and strengthen their ability to lead their churches and organizations.  This symposium is expected to be a mutual learning opportunity in which insight will be shared by colleagues and pastors will feel as if they are enriched by the process.  It is our conviction in IPMI that as we strengthen one another, we present the united invincible front that will tear down the strong holds of the enemy.
