We are delighted that IPMI has received this wonderful  privilege of hosting Bishop Joseph Garlington  for this year’s Annual Pastors & Leaders Prayer Symposium. This spectacular event is expected to provide those pastors and ministry leaders  that will join us, a spiritually rewarding  experience. In responding to the need to host the Annual Pastors and Leaders Prayer Symposium, we are cognizant of the fact that many local churches here in tri-state struggle with prayer and also face an enormous challenge bringing transformational impact to their communities.  We therefore consider the ministry of this veteran pastor during the 2012 Pastors and Leaders Symposium, very timely and hope that several pastors and leaders from the region will take the opportunity to join us for this event.   We are particularly pleased to be joined by those pastors  and organizations who have embraced the vision associated with the  Annual Pastors and Leaders prayer symposium, and who have collaborated with us to host the 2012 event.   On behalf of the IPMI board and this wonderful group of friends we welcome you to join us on June 15 for this great event.

About the Guest Speaker

Bishop Joseph Garlington

Bishop Joseph L. Garlington, Sr., PhD is the Senior Pastor of Covenant Church of Pittsburgh, a multiracial and cross-cultural community of more than two thousand members, which he founded with his wife, Barbara in 1971.
Guided by Bishop Garlington’s vision, Covenant Church has been a model of reconciliation and racial healing for Reconciliation Ministries International! An International Network of Churches and Ministries, Inc, for which he is the Presiding Bishop. Reconciliation Ministries spans the globe in representation with nearly a thousand congregations worldwide.
He is the president of Building United of Southwest Pennsylvania, an ecumenical coalition of bishops in the Southwestern and Western Pennsylvania corridor. Through the synergy of this partnership with local and national financial institutions, and foundations they are beginning to see genuine fruit from President Bush’s faith-based initiatives in providing home ownership for low and middle income families.
As the visionary for Covenant Church, he launched an outreach to recover an abandoned school in Wilkinsburg, PA, that is now known as Hosanna House Community Center, which has become a world class model for creative partnerships with government, business, foundations and the church. This and other numerous outreaches to the local and international community have positioned Covenant Church as a recognized leader in the faith-based community.
Bishop Garlington is an accomplished musician, and recording artist, author and scholar, whose work touches thousands through radio and TV, through his weekly television broadcast, Something Fresh, through national and international conferences, through albums, books and articles. He is internationally recognized in the religious community for his work and ministry in many churches in South Africa since 1979.

The Vision Behind the Annual Pastors and Leaders Prayer Symposium

Intercessory Prayer Ministry International (IPMI) has responded to God’s mandate to them to be a vanguard of prayer.  In that regard, it provides a special element of support to the church.  It is an ally to the church providing vital reinforcement in prayer.  IMPI seeks to serve the Pastors in the Tri-State area and to signal to these Pastors its unswerving alliance in support of them as they seek to lead the church.  In keeping with this commitment, IPMI hosts a Pastor’s and leader’s prayer symposium in conjunction with its premier annual prayer conference.  At this prayer symposium, IPMI’s intention is to present pastors and leaders with an opportunity to dialogue with an experienced and competent church person about things that will facilitate and strengthen their ability to lead their churches and organizations.  This symposium is expected to be a mutual learning opportunity in which insight will be shared by colleagues and pastors will feel as if they are enriched by the process.  It is our conviction in IPMI that as we strengthen one another, we present the united invincible front that will tear down the strong holds of the enemy.

“I am excited about the work of IPMI and its efforts to connect leaders for strategic intercession.  Rev. Newton Gabbidon and his board have done a tremendous job of stimulating prayer in their congregations.  I have participated in two prayer symposiums and they have been a powerful spiritual experience.”
